Event photographer and videographer websites
An event photographer or videographer has an advantage most businesses do not: the product is visible. That is also the trap, because many sites in this field are one huge gallery and nothing else. Someone looking for coverage of their wedding, a family celebration or a company launch needs to see work similar to their event, get a rough idea of the price, know when they will get the photos or the film, and how you will deliver them. I build that myself as a website in 7 days for USD 400, or as a full website for USD 900 with a panel and private galleries for your clients.
A portfolio by type of event
A couple about to get married does not want to see a conference, and a company looking for launch coverage does not want to see a first dance. Organize the portfolio by type of event, each with its own page:
- Weddings: the ceremony, the portraits, the party, the details.
- Private celebrations: birthdays, anniversaries, family milestones.
- Corporate: launches, conferences, year end parties. Different things matter here: fast delivery, speaker shots, images ready for social media and press.
- Video: the short highlight film for each type of event, playing on the same page.
Inside each page, a few events told properly (where it was, what you covered, how long) beat a hundred loose photos. That shows how you handle a whole event, not just your best shot. Only your own work, and only with your clients’ permission to show it.
Photos that do not freeze the page
A photographer wants to show work at full quality, and that often ends in a site that takes forever to open. On a phone with mobile data, a heavy gallery loses the visitor before they see anything. You can have both: images prepared in several sizes that load as you scroll, and the large version only when someone opens it. I explained why it matters in page speed and the cost of every second.
Packages with a “from” price
Show your packages with a starting price and what each one includes: hours of coverage, approximate number of edited photos, highlight film or full film, second shooter, printed album. For example: photo only, photo and video, full coverage. You do not need the final price on the site; you need the person writing to you to know they are in range.
Delivery times, in writing
“When do we get the photos?” is one of the most repeated questions, before and after the event. Put it on the site, per package: when a preview arrives, when the full gallery is ready, when the edited film is delivered. If you send corporate clients a selection the next morning for social media, say so, because for them that is a reason to pick you. A clear delivery time on the site also protects you: the client read it before booking.
A private gallery for each client
Delivery is part of what you sell. A shared folder link works, but a private gallery on your own site, with your brand, looks like a different level: each client logs in with a password, sees their photos organized by moment, downloads them in good quality and shares with family without anyone else seeing them.
For corporate events it helps to split a press folder from an internal one. And if you cover events with lots of people (a race, a big party, a ski season), the gallery can turn into photo sales: each person finds their own photos and pays online. That is how the system I built for a ski resort works, described in selling photos online at a ski resort.
A form that asks what you need
To know if you are free and to quote, the form should ask for: date of the event, venue and town, type of event, whether they want photo, video or both, approximate number of guests, name and phone. Few fields, almost all to tap. Next to it, a WhatsApp button with a message already written; the setup is in connecting your website to WhatsApp.
Producers and planners also hire photographers, and they check different things than couples do: reliability, timing, delivery for the brand. If that is part of your work, it is worth reading what they need on their own sites in websites for event production companies.
How much it costs
- Website in 7 days: USD 400, up to 5 sections (weddings, celebrations, corporate, packages, contact), domain in your name.
- Full website or web app: USD 900, in 2 to 3 weeks, with a panel to add events to the portfolio and private galleries for each client.
- Custom system: from USD 2,500, if you want to sell photos online with search, payment and download.
Fixed price and delivery date in writing before I start. If you also work with clients from other countries, each extra language costs USD 200; more on that in multi-language websites.
Want a site where your work sells itself and the inquiry arrives with the date already filled in? Message me on WhatsApp and you will have a fixed price and a delivery date in writing within 48 hours.
